Exhaust System Design for a Formula Car

SUPRA is a national-level student formula car competition organized by SUPRA SAEINDIA. The competition is conducted every year at Buddh International race circuit near Delhi, India.

This was the first car made by our college. I was a part of the Engine and Transmission Department of the team. Here, I designed the exhaust system components such as exhaust pipe, muffler, resonator, tail pipe and performed modal analysis. The components were produced using various lathe machine and CNC operations. This system was able to keep the exhaust noise of the car below the allowed limit of 120 dB.

Working with a team of Mechanical, Electronics and Mechatronics engineers provided me with the experience of working with people from different domain.
