Hi! My name is Prajwal. Thank you for vising my professional portfolio.
About ME
I am a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Aerospace Engineering at WPI. I am also Research Assistant in the Aerospace Structures and Materials Lab.
My research interests lie in designing high-performance structural systems for extreme applications. I am currently working on engineering a class of adaptive mechanical metamaterials to mitigate impact damage by using a combination of experiments and computational modeling to understand the physics of wave propagation in granular media (think sand and sugar).
I am a passionate design engineer outside of academia, and I love bringing products to life from conceptual designs using additive manufacturing. I have worked with major AM processes such as fused deposition modeling (FDM), stereolithography (SLA) and laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF) metal AM (as a part of the latter, I am a fully trained SLM L-PBF machine operator). I am also familiar with CNC machining having completed my basic machinist's training on a Haas VM2 at the manufacturing labs at WPI. Some of my other hobbies include advancing my guitar chops, hiking, and photography, all while exploring the endless beauty of New England.
