Prajwal Bharadwaj
Mechanical and Aerospace Engineer
About Me

Hi! My name is Prajwal (Pruh-Jwal) and welcome to my online portfolio.

I am a mechanical engineer currently pursuing my doctoral degree in aerospace engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. My academic research interests lie in the design of high performance material systems for extreme applications. I am currently working on engineering a class of adaptive mechanical metamaterials to mitigate impact damage by using a combination of experiments and computational modeling to understand the physics of granular media (think sand and sugar).

Outside of academia, I am a passionate design engineer and I love bringing products to life from conceptual designs using additive manufacturing. I have worked with major AM processes such as fused deposition modeling (FDM), stereolithography (SLA) and laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF) metal AM (as a part of the latter, I am a fully trained SLM L-PBF machine operator). I am also familiar with CNC machining having recently completed my basic machinist's training on a Haas VM2 vertical milling center.  Some of my other hobbies include advancing my guitar chops, hiking and photography, all while exploring the endless beauty of New England.

This portfolio lists my engineering experience so far and a selection of my more recent projects. Please feel free to get in touch with me for questions and potential collaborations!
