StandoutVitae is a web-based platform that helps users showcase their talents and skills, pursue professional opportunities, and network with like-minded professionals. The platform provides web-based tools and services with which users can create and publish web pages and articles forming a personal website or e-portfolio. The tools and services also help users discover and connect with each other and be discovered by recruiters who can search for candidates on the platform.
Standout LLC (“us”, “we”, “our”, or “Standout”) operates https://www.StandoutVitae.com.
We take the private nature of your personal information very seriously and are committed to protecting it. This Privacy Policy is meant to help you understand what personal data we collect through you use of the StandoutVitae website and any related applications, and all content, tools, services and products available at or through the website or related mobile and non-mobile applications (collectively the “Service”), and how we use this data. By using our platform, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
This Privacy Policy applies to users of the Service who have registered an account (“Members”) as well as users who do not have an account (“Visitors”).
We collect all the content and other information you voluntarily provide when you use the Service.
To create an account on the Service, you must provide us with at least your name and email address. After you create your account, you may choose to provide additional information through your account, such as your gender, date of birth, location, and contact information. You may choose to create numerous web pages and articles as part of your profile (including a resume), which may include descriptions of your educational background, professional experience, skills, honors, awards, professional affiliations, personal activities, hobbies, or any other information you choose to disclose.
We collect contact information you upload, sync or import directly from a device, such as an address book. We also collect information when you message or communicate with Members.
If you send us a request, such as emailing us for support, we store the information and reserve the right to publish it (absent any personally identifying information), in order to help us clarify or respond to your request or help other Members or Visitors.
We collect information about how you use the Service, such as the types of content you view or engage with or the frequency and duration of your activities. We collect information about the people and groups you are connected to and how you interact with them.
We automatically collect and store certain information in our server logs, which may include your internet protocol address, pages that you visit, the time and date of your visit, and browser type, version and language. We may use third party services such as Google Analytics that collect, monitor and analyze such data, and third-party services such as Google AdWords which engage in behavioral tracking.
We use cookies and similar technologies to improve your experience, increase security, and track metrics that help improve the service. Cookies are files with a small amount of data which we either send to your browser from our web site or directly generate in your browser through our code. Members who generate and publish content using the Service are generally doing so for the express purpose of sharing information publicly to showcase their talents and/or connect with professionals or recruiters in their field. Therefore, most Members will post personally identifying information about themselves in their normal use of the Service. Information of this nature, which is voluntarily posted in publicly visible manner, is considered to be public even if it might otherwise be considered to be personally identifying or sensitive. It is not subject to the protocols listed below because we don’t control it; you do. Additionally, voluntarily publicizing such information means that you lose any privacy rights you might normally have with regards to that information. It is also likely that this publicly visible information will be indexed and cached by various search engines.
We use your information to deliver the Service, provide personalized content, and make suggestions, such as recommending articles you might like to read or people you might like to connect with. We analyze the information we have on our users to evaluate and improve products and services, develop new products or features, and conduct audits and troubleshooting activities
We use your information to communicate with you for various reasons. Some of your personal information will be visible to employers/recruiters searching for candidates and may be used to provide them with advanced search features/tools. That said, your contact information (email, phone, and mailing address) will not be provided to employers in their candidate search results. We will only allow employers to access to your contact information if you apply directly for a specific job, or if an employer finds you through a search and would like to contact you and you give us permission to provide them with your contact information.
Some activities you perform, such as connecting with a Member, or clicking the “like” button on an article or a comment written by a Member, may be displayed on the activity stream of Members who you may or may not be connected with.
We may disclose or transfer your personal information to a third party if there is change in ownership of all or part of the Service or our assets, or in preparation of such an event. Any third party to which we transfer or sell our assets will have the right to continue to use the personal and non-personal information that you provide to us in the manner set out in this Privacy Policy.
We may share your information in response to a legal request by public authorities (like a search warrant, court order or subpoena) if we have a good faith belief that the law requires us to do so. This may include responding to legal requests from jurisdictions outside of the United States where we have a good faith belief that the response is required by law in that jurisdiction, affects users in that jurisdiction, and is consistent with internationally recognized standards. We may also share information when we have a good faith belief it is necessary to prevent and address fraud and other illegal activity conducted using the Service, or to prevent death or imminent bodily harm. Your information may be accessed, processed and retained for an extended period when it is the subject of a legal request or obligation, governmental investigation, or investigations concerning possible violations of our terms or policies, or otherwise to prevent harm. We also may retain information from accounts disabled for violations of our terms for at least two years to prevent repeat abuse.
Any personally identifiable information you provide to us may be transferred out of your country and into the United States, and possibly to other countries. By using the Service, you consent to such transfer, and are representing that you have the right to transfer such information outside your country.
You can manage your information through the Personal Information, Manage Account and Dashboard pages on the StandoutVitae website and related applications. The Personal Information page allows you to access and edit information such as your name, gender, location, and date of birth. The Manage Account page allows you to access and edit information such as your email address and view your recent login history consisting of IP addresses and login dates and times. (This login history cannot be deleted for security reasons). The Dashboard enables you to create web pages and write articles; conversely this same tool can be used to hide or delete pages and articles or update the information contained in them.
We aim to maintain the Service in a manner that protects information from accidental or malicious destruction. Because of this, after you delete information from the Service we may not immediately delete residual copies from our active servers and may not ever remove information from our backup systems.
If you close your account, your publicly visible information will generally be removed from the Service within 24 hours. However, this information may persist in our database and other storage media, or backup copies of the same, for up to 5 years.
We do not support the use of the Do Not Track (DNT) browser preference.
Your personal information is contained behind secured networks and is only accessible by a limited number of persons who have special access rights to such systems and are required to keep the information confidential. In addition, all sensitive/credit information you supply is encrypted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology.
Transactions involving credit cards or other methods of payment are processed through a gateway provider and are not stored or processed on our servers.
The security of your personal information is important to us, but it is important to keep in mind that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure.
